Chitotech® removes bacteria, irreversibly binding them to its surface to reduce bioburden and support natural wound healing. Chitotech® is not only highly effective against common wound bacteria including MRSA1 and VRE but also targets fungi. Unlike certain antimicrobial substances that kill bacteria, development of bacterial resistance is not expected with the mode of action of Chitotech® and it can be used for a prolonged period of time.
No, the dressing is for single use and all unused material shall be discarded.
There is no latex in either of the Chitotech® dressings nor in pouches or packages.
Chitotech® is proven to help reducing pain during wear and odor from the wound site.
The dressing change frequency depends on exudate levels and the overall condition of the wound and surrounding skin. If fully saturated the dressing should be changed. If the clinical conditions allow, the dressing can be left in place for up to 7 days.
For treatment of fungal infections in skin folds with Chitotech® Ribbon Gauze, daily dressing changes in conjunction with inspection and regular hygiene routines is recommended.
